1 hurt, garage badly damaged in Renton fire

RENTON, Wash. — One person was hurt in a fire in Renton.

Firefighters were called to a detached garage in the 300 block of South Sixth Street at about 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire station is nearby, so crews were able to arrive in about six minutes.

Crews said the flames from the fire were visible from blocks away.

Firefighters used a defensive strategy to fight the flames and protect a nearby duplex and apartment complex.

The fire is now under control. The garage was gutted by the flames and there was minor damage to a nearby building.

Renton firefighters said the person who was hurt has minor injuries.
