ARLINGTON, Wash. — A small plane crashed Thursday night in Arlington, killing a 73-year-old Bothell man.
Snohomish County deputies were called to an area near Bumgarner Road and North Cedarvale Loop Road around 8:30 p.m.
According to deputies, a friend of the pilot said he was overdue from a flight and used a tracking device to find the plane’s general location.
Deputies and search and rescue teams first searched the area by ground before launching the sheriff’s office helicopter, SnoHawk1, to try to locate the plane.
The chopper found the crash site shortly after 10 p.m. The pilot was dead at the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
Deputies responded near N Cedarvale Loop Rd for a report of a downed aircraft. The aircraft has been located and the single occupant was found deceased on scene. At this time, no information is known on what occurred leading up to the crash.
