Man arrested in deadly University District stabbing

SEATTLE — Aug. 22, 2018 update: Seattle police arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing earlier this month.

Investigators said the suspect, a 21-year-old man, was arrested in North Seattle Wednesday afternoon.

The man was taken to police headquarters and then booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of murder.

Investigators believe the suspect and victim knew each other and that there was a verbal dispute before the deadly attack.

An investigation is underway after the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man Wednesday night in Seattle's  University District.

Seattle police were called to the 1400 block of Northeast 43rd Street for reports of a stabbing at about 7 p.m.

When officers arrived in the area, they found the man in an alley.  Medics who arrived on the scene performed life-saving measures but the man was pronounced dead, officials with the Seattle Fire Department said.

Police said they are searching for suspects.

The investigation remains ongoing.
