• Hundreds gather at UW in solidarity with Missouri protesters

SEATTLE - Hundreds of protesters gathered near the University of Washington on Thursday evening, and traffic was blocked about 5 p.m. near 15th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 45th as they marched.

King County Metro told riders to expect minor service delays near the UW campus. All lanes on state Route 513 northbound at the Montlake Bridge were blocked.

At 5:26 p.m., traffic officials advised that major delays should be expected near the UW campus, due to blockage.

By around 5:42 on Thursday evening, the affected area had mostly cleared.

The demonstrators were gathering in support of the Mizzou protest, where students of the University of Missouri are protesting racism on campus.

“Today can be the day that we choose to no longer see the divide between ‘African’ and ‘African American,’” said one protester at the UW, to the cheers of those gathered.
