Dog running against Whatcom County prosecutor

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — A longtime prosecutor in Whatcom County has some unusual competition in this month's primary election -- a dog

David McEachran is running unopposed for his 11th term as prosecutor.

A prominent activist told the Bellingham Herald there should be choices for voters, so he's putting his dog -- Nyima -- into the mix.

Nyima has received several write-in votes.

In fact, a few dozen people said they were voting for him.

Others called the write-in candidate "frivolous."
