SPD demands KIRO 7 video of May Day vandalism

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department demanded Monday that local media give up its raw video of the May Day protests.

KIRO 7 and several other major media outlets got a subpoena for the video Monday afternoon.

According to the order, detectives want to look through raw video to see if they can identify the people who damaged buildings and businesses downtown last Tuesday.

Officers said “black bloc anarchists” showed up wearing street clothing, changed into all-black garb to conceal their identities, carried out acts of vandalism and later changed back into street clothes to slip away.

Police revealed in court documents that they already used video posted on kirotv.com in at least one case.
