SEATTLE - Firefighters battled a crane fire that spread to a fence in West Seattle Thursday morning.
Crews evacuated nearby buildings in the 4000 block of Southwest Andover Street.
A woman who works in the Columbia Tower said she could see black smoke from her office on the 36th floor.
Black smoke could also be seen from KIRO 7's tower cam.
The fire was reported at about 8:20 a.m. Seattle fire said it was under control at about 8:40 a.m.
Firefighters protected all of the surrounding homes.
