• Bicyclist struck, critically injured by pickup truck in Monroe

    MONROE, Wash. - A 63-year-old bicyclist was hit by a blue pickup truck early Wednesday morning.

    The bicyclist, identified as Richard Pratt, was struck just before 7:00.

    The driver of the pickup truck was trying to merge when he struck Pratt, who was traveling in the right lane on State Route 2 in Monroe.

    Pratt was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his critical injuries.

    Officials said weather conditions were clear.

    Roads were bare besides a few patches of ice along the pavement.

    Police ask that anyone who witnessed the collision call either (360) 794-6300 or (360) 863-4600.
