Baby orca found dead near Vancouver Island

Tolfino, B.C — A baby orca has been found dead near Vancouver Island, Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans says.

The death comes at the tail end of a great year for orca births in the region. Since December 2014, there have been 8 calf births to the J-Pod group of killer whales.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says they’ve conducted a necropsy.  The results haven’t been released.
