Starting Monday, QFC is the latest place to stop using single-use plastic bags.
The grocery chain’s parent company, Kroger, announced it will ban plastic bags by 2025.
After that announcement, QFC said it would be the company’s first grocer to complete the change.
According to Kroger, some estimates suggest 100 billion single-use plastic bags are thrown away in the U.S. every year.
Throughout April, QFC will donate $1 for each reusable bag sold in its stores to The Nature Conservancy, up to $10,000.
