Kirkland police release new details as search continues for suspects in fatal shooting of teen

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Investigators with the Kirkland Police Department on Wednesday released new information as their search for the suspects in the deadly shooting of a teen last week.

On Sept. 16, 18-year-old Cyrus Mason was shot and killed at Houghton Beach Park.

According to police, the park was an agreed-upon destination for a firearms transaction as Mason was traveling from Marysville and the suspects were traveling from Renton.

Police previously released descriptions of two of the three suspects believed to be involved. They also said there could be a fourth person involved.

The first suspect was described as a white male between the ages of 15-20 years old. He is said to be 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, is of thin build, has curly hair, and wore a gray hoodie, either gray sweatpants or light-colored jeans and white athletic shoes.

The second suspect was described as a light-skinned male between the ages of 15-20 years old. He is said to be 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, is of thin build, has dark, curly hair, and wore a black hoodie and black pants.

According to police, new evidence reveals multiple shots were fired. Police said the suspects were seen running after the shots were fired and got into a dark-blue, 4-door BMW 535 XI (see below).

The car left going north on Lake View Drive and nearly crashed into another car driving south. Police are asking the driver of the car that was almost hit to come forward to help in the investigation.

Police are also asking anyone who has information on the BMW to come forward. They said it has the following distinct features: front passenger side running light out, vehicle has a loud muffler and the driver side rear tire is a spare tire.
