7 things to do this weekend: Jan. 11 - 13

1) Fast & Ferocious: Monster Jam – Friday to Sunday, Jan. 11-13. The off-road action is taking place at the Tacoma Dome. Trucks will maneuver special-built terrain showing speed and strength in competition. Some of the trucks featured will be Grave Digger, El Toro Loco and Megalodon. 2) Customs & traditions: Seattle Wedding Show – Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-13. Whether you want to see the latest trends or go the traditional route, this show is expected to have it all for those planning or organizing a wedding. 3) Natural surroundings: Backyard Habitat and Bee Workshop – Saturday, Jan. 12. This event will give you information on pollinators and how they spread pollen between flowers, enabling them to produce seeds. Those who attend will get a chance to make a bee house to take home. 4) Smooth sounds: BC3 Jazz Trio featuring BrandonLee Cierley – Saturday, Jan. 12, 3 p.m. Enjoy some original compositions from a local group. The sounds may excite you and possibly have you humming along. The performance will be in Sumner. Follow this link for details.

5) Hardwood action: Utah Valley University vs. Seattle University – Saturday, Jan. 12, 2 p.m. The SU women are expected to play hard with hopes of pulling out a win. The action will take place at the Redhawk Center on the campus of Seattle University. Follow this link for details.

6) Zoo visit: Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium – Visit the zoo in Tacoma and check out the animals. Brandar, the 5-year-old Sumatran tiger, will make his official debut over the weekend.
