1. Tattoo enthusiast: Seattle Tattoo Expo: Friday-Sunday, Aug. 16-18. Seattle Center. Fri: 2-9 p.m., Sat. and Sun. 12-9 p.m. Check out numerous talented tattoo artists at the annual expo. Attendees can check out posted and ongoing artwork happening right inside the expo or schedule an appointment for an onsite tattoo addition. Music, vendors, a beer garden and cigar lounge will also be onsite. 2. Cultural celebration: BrasilFest. Sun, Aug. 18: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Seattle Center. Dancing, drumming, activities and exhibits will fill the Fisher Pavilion with excitement. The festival celebrates traditions of the region's diverse communities. Musical and arts performances showcase Brazilian folklore and contemporary expressions. 3. Ye ol' Renaissance fans: Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire: Weekend 3: A Pirate's Plunder: Swashbucklers & Scallywags. This magical weekend will be no stranger to pirates as they storm the shore. Come dress as your favorite fictional character, and enjoy the many demonstrations, competitions, food and music vendors. 4. Summer concert series: Downtown Summer Sounds 2019. Seattle. July 9 – Aug. 23 (Wed.-Fridays). Noon-1 p.m. or noon-1:30 p.m. The Downtown Seattle Association celebrates 41 years of live music with the kickoff of Downtown Summer Sounds, presented by Virginia Mason. 5. Fantastic artwork: Pacific NW ChalkFest. Redmond. Friday-Sunday, Aug. 16-18. Artists from around the globe stop by this popular destination to display captivating 3-D chalk art on the closed off sidewalks at the Redmond Town Center. 6. Independent filmmakers in PNW: North Bend Film Festival. Aug. 15-18. North Bend. Various times between 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. The second annual film festival continues the tradition in the home city of the shooting location for cult-classic TV series, "Twin Peaks." Numerous filmmakers present their work at the 3-day vanguard storytelling festival. 7. Food and Sustainable Living: Chomp! Food and Sustainable Living festival. Sun., Aug. 17. Willowmoor Farm at Marymoor Park, Redmond. The FREE, non-profit festival supports local food initiatives of King county, has locally sourced foods, teaches consumers how to reduce, reuse, recycle and upcycle.
