7 things to do this weekend: April 6 - 8

1) Get your art on: Ellensburg Public Art -  Ongoing.  Wander down the pavilion square and you'll run into various quirky sculptures created by local Ellensburg artists. 2) Colorful blooms: Skagit Valley Tulip Festival - Month of April.  April has arrived and the tulips are starting to bloom in the Skagit Valley! Enjoy the wonders of color, beauty and entertainment at the annual festival. Enjoy the amazing splendor of the tulip fields as well as the show gardens from Tulip Town and RoozenGaarde. Check the bloom map here before planning your trip. 3) Local theater: James and the Giant Peach - April 7 at 8 p.m. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a giant peach which falls off the tree and into the ocean, launching him on a journey of epic proportions. 4) Sculpture, painting, mixed media: Juried Art Show - SCHACK Art Center - Through April 14; Fri 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sun 12 to 5 p.m. This biennial collection of Northwest artists features a well-rounded variety of mediums to produce an eclectic and visually stimulating exhibit. 5) Bronze beauties: Animals: Wild and Captured in Bronze, Tacoma Art Museum -  Ongoing, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wild mustangs and majestic bison are symbols of the American West. However, many other creatures also live in the diverse habitats west of the Mississippi River. 6) Have some laughs: East Side Story Improv, SecondStory Repertory - April 6 to 7, Friday 8 p.m., Saturday, 7 p.m. East Side Story has been performing improv comedy in the Redmond/Seattle area since 2013. What started as a small group of improv students performing comedy after a music open mic has grown into a 15-member-strong team from around the country, dedicated to making you laugh by bringing improvised fun to Redmond and surrounding areas on Seattle's east side! Follow this link for more details.
