7 things to do this Thanksgiving weekend: November 24-26

​​​​​​KIRO 7 Cares Toy Drive - Join KIRO 7 and Albert Lee Appliance to help create special memories for children in our community this Holiday season. Donate a new, unwrapped toy to the KIRO 7 CARES Toy Drive, benefitting Toys for Tots, at any one of the five Albert Lee Appliance locations beginning November 20th or visit KIRO 7 on December 8th for a fun and festive celebration! Holiday Fun: My Macy's Holiday Parade – Friday, November 24, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The celebration will take place on the streets of downtown Seattle. The fun goes from Seventh Ave & Pine to Fifth Ave to University, to Fourth Ave, ending at Macy's on Pine Street. There will be plenty of floats, marching bands and more. Football Showdown: The Apple Cup, Cougs vs Dawgs – Saturday, November 25, kickoff is at 5 p.m. The battle between WSU and UW will take place at Husky Stadium. The Pac-12 conference fight has been a tradition for years for both Washington schools. The first Apple Cup was played in 1900.

Seattle Tradition: Westlake Holiday Tree Lighting 2017 – Friday, November 24, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The annual tree lighting is a fun event that can be fun for all who attend. There's also Macy's shining holiday star that will be lit. In addition, there will be fireworks that will light downtown Seattle. Follow this link for details.

Fun Run: 2017 Seattle Turkey Trot – Thursday, November 23. The race begins at 9 a.m. From site: This is the 11th year of the scenic run which starts in the Sunset Hill neighborhood near Ballard, and finishes at Golden Gardens. The proceeds from the run will help to provide food for those in need during the holidays. Race starting line: NW 85th St & 32nd Ave NW in the Ballard area. Follow this link for details.
