State erects first 'Don't Text and Drive' sign

ROCHESTER, Washington — The state's first "Please Don't Text and Drive" sign was being put into place on State Route 12 near Rochester on Thursday, in memory of a woman killed there last year.

Ashley R. Davis-Jones, 22, was killed on February 18, 2011, when her Mazda 3 crossed the centerline on SR 12 and struck a box truck head-on. The Washington State Patrol said Davis-Jones had been texting shortly before the collission happened.
