Garbage truck driver rescued after crash with pickup

KING COUNTY, Wash. — The driver of a Waste Management truck had to be rescued after a collision with a pickup Friday morning.

The crash occurred on Northeast Woodinville-Duvall Road at 232nd Avenue Northeast in unincorporated King County about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said the pickup, which was pulling a trailer, was making a right turn from 232nd onto Woodinville-Duvall Road when it turned too wide and was struck by the garbage truck, which was heading eastbound. The pickup spun around 360 degrees when it was hit.

Both drivers had minor injuries, though firefighters had to cut the driver out of the garbage truck to free him. They were both taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

Detours were in place while the road was closed for about an hour.
