SEATTLE - The Washington State Department of Transportation offered a first-look Monday at the big changes coming to the State Route 520 Bridge.
Construction barges are scheduled to come in this week to start working on the new bridge, and this summer, the pontoons will be brought in.
The new six-lane bridge will have a path for walkers and cyclists.
One of the biggest engineering changes is that drivers will no longer go over the pontoons. The bridge will also feature sentinels that light up at night.
