David Solano is co-anchor of KIRO 7 News on Saturday and Sunday at 5, 6:30 and 11 p.m. Solano, who also anchors weekend sports, works as a reporter during the week.
Solano joined KIRO-TV in May after spending two years as a sports anchor/reporter at KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon. He co-hosted a Sunday night sports show called "Game On" and covered the Blazers, Mariners, Seahawks, Super Bowl 50, the 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four and the Timbers winning the MLS Cup in 2015.
Prior to joining KOIN-TV, Solano worked as a weekend sports anchor/reporter at WXYZ-TV in Detroit for three years. He hosted the "Sunday Sports Update" and covered the Lions, Red Wings, Tigers and Pistons.
Before moving to the Motor City, Solano anchored news and sports at KIAH-TV in Houston for over two years.
He also worked as a weekend sports anchor/reporter at WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for over three years. He started his on-air career at WMAZ-TV in Macon, Georgia, where he was
a sports anchor/reporter for nearly four years.
Solano graduated from Portland State University with a degree in communication studies.
He was born in Philadelphia but grew up in Gresham, Oregon, and is very excited about being home in the Pacific Northwest.
Solano and his wife, Liezl, live in King County.
