Seahawks' Eddie Lacy passes second weigh-in, gets another $55K

Seahawks running back Eddie Lacy has passed his second weigh-in, which means he’ll collect another $55,000.

Lacy reportedly had to be 250 pounds or below on Monday in order to earn his second weight-related bonus. He was, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Lacy’s agency, SportsTrust Advisors, followed up Fowler’s tweet with this:

The one-year contract the Seahawks gave Lacy in free agency reportedly includes $385,000 in incentives tied to his weight, which got out of hand at times during his four seasons in Green Bay. Lacy can earn $55,00 each time he hits a specific weight target, which drops incrementally before leveling out during the season. The first of Lacy's seven weigh-ins was on May 15; his agency tweeted that he was 253, two pounds below the targeted weight. His exact weight on Monday wasn't revealed.

Lacy has been limited during offseason practices as he works his way back from an ankle injury that required surgery and cut his 2016 season short. In addition to dieting, Lacy said his efforts to keep his weight down have included P90X workouts.

“He’s right on it. He’s doing great. He’s right on it,” coach Pete Carroll said earlier this month when asked about Lacy’s conditioning. “I haven’t seen him any other time so I only know what we’re seeing now, but he’s right on everything, so he’s been a terrific worker. He’s done everything we’ve asked of him and he’s right on it.”

According to ESPN’s Field Yates and others, Lacy’s remaining weight targets are 250 pounds for August and 245 for September, October, November and December.

“Everything’s a challenge, but I have a great support group behind me from coaches to players to the nutritional team,” Lacy said earlier this month. “Everybody’s positive, which helps me because I know I have a group of people behind me pushing me. So it’s all working out, it’s all going great and it’s just gotta continue to go that way.”
