Hansen group buys Showbox property in SoDo

SEATTLE — A group led by the man backing efforts to bring an NBA arena to SoDo has bought the Showbox property in the neighborhood, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported.

Chris Hansen has been buying land in the area for the proposed $490 million basketball and hockey arena.

His group paid $8 million for the property at 1700 First Avenue South, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported.

The King County Council has voted a proposal from Hansen.  The Seattle City Council is still considering it.
