PULLMAN, Wash. —

The Washington State University Board of Regents voted Friday to rename a building on campus after late KOMO News anchor Kathi Goertzen.

Goertzen graduated from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication in 1980. She also received the Alumni Achievement Award, which is the school’s highest alumni honor.

In August, Goertzen passed away at the age of 54 after a long battle with brain tumors.

Goertzen was a fixture on Seattle television for nearly 30 years.
