Woman injured in Spanaway shooting

A Spanaway woman was shot in a home  Saturday morning, and Pierce County deputies are looking for at least three people involved.

SPANAWAY, Wash. — The shooting happened around 7 a.m. in this cul-de-sac just north of Spanaway Lake.  Deputies say two women and one, maybe two, men wearing masks entered this house and got into some kind of fight in which a masked man shot a 47-year-old woman renting a room here.

“She’s going to survive. Bullet went through her. She’s in the hospital with our detectives now. The two females and masked men fled the scene,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s Detective Ed Troyer.

The victim went to a neighbor’s house to ask for help and others called 911 reporting shots fired.

People who live in the neighborhood say no less than 50 cars a day have come and gone from the house every day for the last year or so – a sign of drug activity that had already caught the eye of detectives.

“One of our narcotics guys was aware of it and is here right now and was in the process of taking a look at this place and documenting what was happening as we speak,” Troyer said.

Deputies want the public to know this wasn’t random.

“This was going to happen wherever this woman lived because they were going after her for some reason,” Troyer said.

Police didn’t recover a gun, but they’re hopeful the victim will cooperate and that the vehicle in which the people fled will lead to arrests, soon.

Deputies say the getaway car is an orange or red-orange Dodge Durango with white lettering on the back window. The two women were driving and at least one masked man was riding with them.
