Seattle, Wash. - A woman has life threatening injuries after driving over the off-ramp barrier from the 1st Avenue South Bridge.

Officers responded to a call about the accident near the 100 block of South River Street at about 10:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a Honda Accord just below the Bridge.

The female driver was the only person in the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation shows that the woman, who police say is listed as the owner of the vehicle, was driving northbound on the 1st Avenue South Bridge. She lost control of her vehicle as she approached the Michigan Street off-ramp and went over the side of the barrier.

Police say that a high rate of speed may have been a factor in this crash.
