Woman found dead in Lake Stevens home

Lake Stevens, Wash. — A woman in her 20s was found dead inside a Lake Stevens home Monday morning and investigators suspect "homicidal violence."

Snohomish County investigators spent much of the day at a home in the 9200 block of 15th Street Southeast. They say a man discovered the woman around 9:00 a.m. Deputies will not elaborate on how the woman died.

Video from Chopper 7 showed a moving truck in the driveway and household goods on the ground. Millie Smith identified herself as a friend of the landlord and said a woman in her 20s moved into the home at the end of May with her boyfriend and another man. Smith says the new tenants used the truck to haul in their belongings and that the items sitting outside belong to previous tenants. Smith says she last saw the young woman on Friday. "She was polite, she always said hi, smiled, she was very pretty," Smith said.

Investigators have not confirmed that the victim lived in the house. After discovering the body, officers left the home. Detective spent much of Monday awaiting a search warrant to go inside to process the scene.

No one has been arrested. Snohomish County investigators said they were not actively searching for anyone. "Obviously we're doing some other investigative techniques behind the scenes that we're not going to talk about right now," said Lt. Jeff Brand of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
