Woman dies after being struck by train

EPHRATA, Wash. — A woman was killed Saturday morning when she was struck by a freight train in Ephrata, police said.

The incident happened at 9:45 a.m. when an eastbound Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train struck a woman.

Police said her body was found near the Amtrak Depot near Division Avenue East and Alder Street.

Ephrata police, BNFS Railway and the Grant County coroner are investigating the incident.

The woman’s identity has not been released.
