Woman crashes car into North Seattle building

A woman having a medical issue crashed into a building Tuesday near Aurora Avenue North, causing onlookers to run in fear.

The incident happened about 1:35 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Northgate Way.

“The (911) caller could not tell who was driving the vehicle, and said people just started scattering out of the building,” Detective Renee Witt said.

Firefighters and medics responded to the scene at the Northgate Pain Control Center. That’s about a block from Aurora and roughly three blocks from the Oak Tree Cinemas.

The driver “backed out and hit vehicles, then drove back into the building,” Witt said. The woman in her 80s was taken to a hospital, but it was not immediately clear what her injures were.
