Winter weather takes toll on police cars

OLYMPIA, Wash. — This week’s blast of winter weather has taken its toll on a number of state trooper patrol cars.

The latest of three crashes happened late Wednesday night on Interstate 5 near Olympia.

The driver involved in the crash told troopers his windshield was foggy and he didn’t realize he was driving on the shoulder when he hit the patrol car, which was parked there during a traffic stop.

No one was hurt.

Another patrol car was hit Tuesday night in Thurston County, and on Wednesday, a third patrol car was rear-ended in Snohomish County, police said.
