Wildfire near Lake Chelan 15 percent contained

MASON, Wash. — Officials with the Department of Natural Resources said the wildfire burning between Deer Point and Mitchell Creek on the north shore of Lake Chelan is now estimated at 1,555 acres, with 15 percent containment, as of Sunday morning.

A Level 1 evacuation notice has been issued for residents of two neighborhoods in Manson, Wash., plus the Antilon Lake Campground. That means people who are sensitive to smoke or have special needs should begin to make arrangements to evacuate.

The Forest Service says the 25 Mile Fire started Thursday on private property across Lake Chelan from 25 Mile State Park. The fire is burning on both private land and Forest Service land.

The 25 Mile wildfire has been determined to be human-caused.
