White River Bridge closure will cause long detour

A link between Pierce and King County will be cut off for the next week.

People in Buckley and Enumclaw will have to spend an extra half-hour trying to get around the closed SR 410 White River Bridge.

About 20,000 drivers use the bridge every day.

Usually, driving from Buckley to Enumclaw would take 15 minutes, but with the bridge closed, it will take 45 minutes.

The Washington State Department of Transportation will close the bridge at 10 p.m. Friday so crews can do $1.8 million worth of repairs, according to the News Tribune.

The bridge was damaged a year ago when an oversized truck struck an overhead steel support. The state never found the truck.

WSDOT says the bridge will reopen on Saturday, April 23, at noon.
