West Seattle man says burglar tried to climb into bed with his wife

SEATTLE — A West Seattle man says a burglar walked into his house and tried to climb in bed with his wife.

The victim said she woke up to a burglar at her bedside who told her he “just wanted to lay down.”

Police say the man got in through an unlocked door early Saturday morning at the house on 39th Avenue Southwest.

The woman, who declined to be identified, had just had heart surgery the day before.

She says when she tried to turn on the light, the man grabbed her wrist.

“I thought it was my husband, so I said, ‘What’s up?’ and (the intruder) said, ‘It’s OK, it’s OK. I just want to lay down,’" the woman said.

The woman says the man grabbed her phone and then walked out. Police found the suspect a block away.

He's expected to be in King County court Monday afternoon.
