Wash. wildlife refuge closed due to standoff in eastern Ore.

A Washington state wildlife refuge, Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, has closed “due to the ongoing situation in eastern Oregon, and out of an abundance of caution for the wellbeing of [their] staff and visitors.”

A standoff at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon started on Jan. 2 -- with a group demanding the federal government turn public lands over to local control -- and free two ranchers imprisoned for setting fires.
