Turf at the renovated Husky Stadium is nearly completed, and University of Washington officials said Monday thing things are still on track for the Aug. 31 kickoff.
Chopper 7 provided the first video look at the stadium Monday. The turf is nearly completed, though crews still need to add the numbers, as well as rubber and sand that will be added over the next week.
The Huskies start their season at home against Boise State, who beat Washington 28-26 last December in the Macco Bowl.
Groundbreaking for the renovation was in November 2011, and the Huskies played at CentryLink Field last season. The roughly $250 million renovation is privately financed with an estimated $50 million through major gifts and the remainder through annual revenues associated with the stadium.
The Huskies follow Boise State with an away game against Illinois at Soldier Field. Overall, seven games are scheduled for the renovated Husky Stadium, including the Nov. 29 Apple Cup.
