U-District garage fire intentionally set

SEATTLE — A fire at a garage in Seattle’s University District neighborhood Thursday was intentionally set, fire investigators said.

Officers were called to a report of a garage in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue Northeast that was engulfed in flames shortly before 11 a.m.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and called the arson bomb squad to investigate.

A bystander told officers he heard a man and woman arguing inside the garage shortly before the fire erupted.

Police said the couple left the area before police arrived and could not be found.

There was slight damage to an adjacent garage and some heat damage to two of the windows of the apartment across the alley.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call 911.  Anonymous tips are welcome.
