Suspect in custody after Everett shooting

EVERETT, Wash. — Everett police have a suspect in custody after a shooting near Hewitt Avenue and Nassau Street.

The shooting occurred around 2:40 a.m. Saturday. One victim was shot in the back and transported to Providence Medical Center Colby Campus.

Police don’t know the victim’s condition at this time.

This all started as a physical fight. Police said the suspect left the fight to go get a gun and then came back.

At first, police thought a second person had been hit but that turned out to be false.

Also, there were initial reports that the shooting was a drive-by. It turns out, the suspect fired from outside a car and then drove away after the shooting, police said.

Police located the suspect in the 1700 block of Puget Drive around 4:00 a.m.

Police said the victim was somehow involved in the earlier fight but they’re still investigating exactly what led up to the shooting.
