A home in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood was gutted by fire Thursday evening.
Neighbors reported seeing huge flames pouring out of the house near the corner of Northeast 130th Street and 35th Avenue Northeast.
The fire quickly spread to a nearby tree and firefighters were concerned it could spread to other homes.
Two people were in the home at the time, but managed to escape to safety with no injuries.
Seattle police confirmed they recovered some marijuana plants from the home, but said that they had nothing to do with the fire. Firefighters said the blaze started in the kitchen.
It took nearly an hour to get the fire under control.
The home is a total loss. Damage to structure and its contents is estimated at $450,000.
