Two injured in Camano island plane crash

CAMANO ISLAND, Wash. — Two people were injured when their small plane crashed in Camano Island Sunday.

Island County Sheriff's Office says they believe the pilot was attempting a touch and go when the plane went down around 11:30 a.m. on a private landing strip on the northwest part of the island.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's office says the plane is a total loss but the pilot and passenger survived. The pilot was transported to Providence hospital for chest pain and the passenger was flown to Harborview

for a head and ankle injury. The plane is described as a small Cessna 182 model. It is registered to a man in Twisp, Washington.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating this accident.  The NTSB is the lead investigative agency.
