Police looking for connection in 3 suspicious house fires in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. — Investigators are looking into whether three suspicious fires in Everett within three days are related or were deliberately set.

On Sunday, a fire erupted at an empty house in the 2800 block of Cedar Street at 11:45 p.m.

On Monday at 3:38 p.m., firefighters were called to a burning home in the 5700 block of Cady Road.

On Tuesday, crews responded to two fires within an hour.

The first occurred at 4 a.m. at an empty house in the 5000 block of South Third Avenue.

The second fire was burning in a Dumpster in the 2900 block of Pine Avenue at 5 a.m.

Police said officers were responding to a report of an assault when they saw the Dumpster fire.

Officers initially detained and questioned a 38-year-old Everett man at the scene who was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on arson charges.

Detectives said they do not believe the Dumpster fire is related to the house fires.
