Tweeted photo shows WSU flag waving at papal celebrations

VATICAN CITY — The Washington State Cougars appeared to be in the middle of all the action following the Papal Conclave's election of Pope Francis on Wednesday.

Spokane resident Rachael Hansen tweeted a screen grab from CBS News Coverage which appeared to show a Wazzu flag among a group of national flags representing the United States, Spain and Vatican City.

The image is making the rounds online, but there's also a lot of chatter that the image of the flag was Photoshopped onto the screen grab.

A KIRO 7 Eyewitness News review of video of the Vatican celebrations found a shot of the crowd, first aired at about 11:49 a.m. Wednesday, which included many of the same flags. The Wazzu flag, however, was missing.

Someone may have pulled the flag down, or the flag-waver may have moved to a different location -- but all signs point to Photoshop.
