Tumwater plans to preserve, remodel historic brewhouse

TUMWATER, Wash. — Tumwater plans to bring the city's historic brewhouse back to life.

The Olympian reports the property owner of the 111-year-old brick brewhouse on Custer Way agreed to donate the building to the city.

There are plans to remodel and preserve the structure.

The property is part of the city's vision to build a craft brewing center.

The city says if the Tumwater Craft Brewing and Distillery Center becomes a reality, it will generate more than 600 jobs and $101 million for the local economy.

The brewhouse served as the original Olympia Brewery until 1916.
