PHOTO: Truck dumps animal parts on I-5, leaving disgusting mess

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — An unusual and disgusting incident shut down a lane of Interstate 5 for hours in Pierce County Monday night.

The Washington State Patrol said a rendering truck carrying animal parts stopped quickly for slow moving traffic, causing its cargo to spill over its sides.

The parts spilled onto the right lane of I-5 at Berkeley near Joint Base Lews-McChord shortly after 6 p.m.

A front loader was used to clear the debris, and the lane reopened about three hours later.
