Man dies in crash with tanker truck

PUYALLUP, Wash. — A 46-year-old man from Puyallup died when his Ford F-150 truck slammed into the back of a tanker truck on Highway 512 Thursday night.

According to Trooper Guy Gill, investigators believe both speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

The semi-truck was traveling uphill westbound on SR 512 at milepost 9 when truck rear-ended the semi at a high rate of speed, police said.

Medics attempted CPR on the driver of the truck but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A crash report released by Washington State Patrol indicates that the driver of the pickup was not wearing his seatbelt.

There were no spills or leaks from the tanker truck and the driver of that semi was not injured.

SR-512 was closed for several hours as troopers conducted their investigation.
