Troopers release description of vehicle in SR 167 shooting

AUBURN, Wash. — Troopers believe they know what kind of car was used in a drive-by shooting on SR 167 in Auburn last month.

Detectives believe the suspects in the Jan. 25 shooting were driving a late 1990s to early 2000s Mercedes sedan.

The shooting occurred about 10:32 p.m. on southbound SR 167 near the entrance ramp to 15th Avenue Northwest.

Troopers arrived to find four people in a 1999 Mazda 626 that had crashed into a ditch. The Mazda had been hit by gunfire at least 13 times.

The two people who were in the front seat were shot several times, but their injuries were non-life-threatening.

Investigators are also looking at the possibility that there was more than one person who participated in the shooting and that the suspects may have gang ties.

Any witnesses or anyone who has information about the shooting is asked to call WSP Detective Russ Haake at 425-401-7717 or Detective Brody Ford at 425-401-7742.
