Trooper injured in altercation with driver near Brinnon

BRINNON, Wash. — A trooper was hurt Saturday night after an altercation with a 58-year-old driver on Highway 101 near Brinnon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident happened after 6 p.m. on Highway 101 near Seal Rock Road.

The State Patrol said a trooper stopped after seeing a man on the side of the road changing a tire. Authorities believe the man hit a guard rail earlier in the evening.

The trooper then noticed the man was intoxicated.

According to the State Patrol, the trooper and the man got into a physical altercation.

When the trooper attempted to deploy his Taser, the device failed. The fight continued and the trooper was able to arrest the man.

The trooper suffered minor injuries to his face and ankle. He is expected to be OK. The man was not hurt.

The man was booked into the Jefferson County Jail for assault, DUI and hit-and-run.
