Pvt. Reynaldo Arroyo, 23, got a regulation cut and donated 150 inches of his shorn hair to "Locks of Love," a Florida-based organization that gives hair prosthetics to children suffering from hair loss, according to KTMF. The hair loss could be caused from cancer treatments or alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease, CNN reported.

In a video posted on the Salt Lake Army Recruiting Battalion Public Affairs Office's Facebook page, Arroyo, who is originally from California, said he was "just really excited to be enlisting in the Army."

According to Army Times, a recruit's hair must have a "tapered appearance" and has to be short, not touching the soldier's collar or falling over the ears or eyebrows.

Arroyo enlisted in the airborne infantry at the U.S. Army's Missoula Recruiting Station, KTMF reported.

Arroyo said he was happy to donate his sheared locks.

"Hopefully some little girl's gonna get it," he said on the Facebook video.
