LEE COUNTY, Fla — A man tried to jump a Florida canal with his car Monday night, according to deputies.
The man pulled his blue Toyota Corolla to the edge of a canal in Lehigh Acres, got out, checked the distance, which was about 20 feet and then got back into the car to try the jump, WFTX reported.
It didn’t work. The man was uninjured, but his car was a total loss and had to be towed, according to WFTX.
A neighbor told WFTX the driver was “misbehaving, or under the influence of alcohol or drug related.”
A street two blocks away from where the incident took place offers an easy path across the canal.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating and the man has not been named, WFTX reported.
