Kitten found glued to road, gets appropriate name with new home

SALEM, Ore. — A man in Oregon made a disturbing discovery while driving to work last week -- a kitten that had been glued to the road in the middle of traffic.

Chuck Hawley was on his way to work in Salem, Oregon, around 7 a.m. Friday when he saw something in front of him on the road, KPTV reported.

He thought it was a box at first but as he got closer, he noticed it was a cold and frightened kitten.

But that was the least of what was wrong for the tiny animal.

"When I went to pick her up, her feet were stuck to the road, and I'm like 'uh-oh.' So I start to pull her feet up and it was like rubber cement, so she was glued to the road," Hawley told KPTV.

He said the glue was on her side, under her neck and covering her feet and tail.

Hawley told KPTV that he believes someone intentionally did it to the kitten.

“We were hoping that she had just walked through glue, but it was pretty apparent that somebody soaked her feet in glue and sort of rubbed it into the pads of her feet,”

He also told the station that he believes that someone put her directly in the middle of traffic.

Hawley said that he took the kitten to a local vet who used mineral oil to get the glue off the cat. They also found puncture wounds on the cat’s neck.

Hawley has contacted the county sheriff and hopes to find out who glued the kitten to the road.

The kitten is expected to fully recover. She also has a new home with the Hawleys who have named her, appropriately enough, “Sticky,”
