A preliminary magnitude 6.5 earthquake was recorded just off the coast of Costa Rica Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS pinpoints the epicenter of the earthquake just northwest of the small town of Parrita, on the west coast of Costa Rica.

Right now there are no reports of any injuries or deaths.

Earlier Saturday, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake was recorded on the Iran/Iraq border. Iran's state-run news agency reports over 140 people area dead, and at least 860 are injured.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centered around 19 miles (31 kilometers) outside the eastern Iraqi city of Halabja.
Iran's semi-official Iranian ILNA news agency says at least 14 Iranian provinces were affected.
