Top Pot Doughnuts to open up new location out of state

SEATTLE — Top Pot Doughnuts--the popular cafe scattered around Puget Sound--has picked an out-of-state location for its next cafe.

The Seattle confectionery and coffee favorite has 15 cafes all along Puget Sound, but this will be the first out-of-state location.

"It's definitely a new direction for us," Top Pot CEO Mark Klebeck told the Seattle Times on Tuesday. "We just want to see how it'd do outside of Seattle and what the response would be."

Klybeck said that Top Pot Doughnuts picked Dallas as its next location because of the strong rapport visitors from Dallas feel for Top Pot and because of the founders' personal ties to Dallas.

Top Pot has been a Seattle hot spot for 12 years now, dating back to when it set up its first cafe on Capitol Hill.

The store in Dallas is set to open in the spring.
