Teen hurt in Puyallup hit-and-run still recovering at hospital

A teen girl is still recovering at the hospital after she was injured in a Puyallup hit-and-run Thursday night.

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Police said 15-year-old Chole Williams was on her way to a school basketball game after leaving the Golden Rule Corner Store in the 700 block of West Stewart Avenue Northwest. She was hit by a vehicle at the crosswalk, and the driver kept going after impact.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter James Schugel spoke with Capt. Scott Engle of the Puyallup Police Department about the incident.

“It appears the driver was traveling possibly fairly fast and was attempting to brake and continued on after the collision,” Engle said.

Police released surveillance pictures of a man who they thought may have information about the collision, but after questioning him, they said he was not involved in the hit-and-run.

Williams is still recovering at a Tacoma hospital.

“She remembered crossing the street. She remembered looking up and seeing the car come towards her. And she looked up in panic and that’s when the car hit her,” said Williams’ friend, Maria Williams (no relation).

Police are still looking for the driver who struck Chloe Williams and they believe the vehicle that hit her is an SUV.
